Faculty Focus

If you haven’t yet discovered articles from Faculty Focus, let me tell you – they’ve been killing it lately! The articles are usually everything you want: short, quick read, single topic, applicable to teaching, delivered to your inbox…but lately I feel like they’ve just been really good.

Here’s an example from today’s email/article, about AI for educators and free courses to learn about it: https://www.facultyfocus.com/articles/teaching-with-technology-articles/earning-our-ai-literacy-license/

Why Online Courses Should Have Less Students

Missed the Content Day Hype?

No worries! This is what we were doing on Thursday – come join us any time!

Remember, the mission of CASC is to provide affordable, ACCESSIBLE, and exceptional education that fosters student success. We’re definitely focusing on the accessible part!

Check out this resource for more info on how to use the embedded tools in Blackboard to see and raise your accessibility score for your course and for your students.

Content Day Competition!!

On October 3, 2024, Anthology will host its annual Fix Your Content Day contest. As part of our campus-wide commitment to inclusive education, we will be participating using Anthology® Ally capabilities. For 24 hours, we’ll be on a mission to fix as many accessibility issues in course files as we can. At the end of the day, the campus with the most files improved will be recognized and awarded a prize.

How can you help? Begin reviewing your courses and identifying those with red and orange indicators. Then, on October 3, start improving as many files as possible using those indicators as a guide. Focus on images that need a description and Microsoft® Word documents to start. Aim for 100%, but improvement is what counts!

For more information on how to fix files using Anthology Ally, check out this video.

Anthology will be keeping track of the institution with the most fixes – let’s show them what CASC Online can do!!

Professional Development Opportunity

As I’m sure you’re aware, CASC Online Instructors are required to complete 4 hours of online-related professional development hours per calendar year. Here’s a great way to knock out most of them at once!

Be sure to register for the OKLIS workshops on Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) September 13! You can attend live OR request the recording via the form below. This is a great opportunity to get in-depth training on RSI! We strongly encourage faculty, instructional designers, and administrators to take advantage of this professional development opportunity! Those who register for either the synchronous or asynchronous option will have the opportunity to complete a follow-up assessment and earn a digital badge!

Please register using one of the following links:

Live Attendee Registration (will receive a Zoom link AND the recording)

Asynchronous Registration (will receive the recording, not a Zoom link)
